Prosthetics on implants and prosthetics on teeth – do we follow the same rules and techniques? What are the differences? How to decide which abutment should be selected? When is the ideal time to load restorations? Can we perform loading immediately after implant insertion or should we wait? How to handle complex cases? How to react when technical challenges occur? Satisfactory long-term results in dental implantology depend on a solid treatment plan and the reasonable use of surgical and prosthetic concepts. The variety of available new technologies and materials in implant prosthetics often complicate the decision-making process. The aim of this lecture is to provide a clinical guide to implant prosthetics, to explain different treatment options and how these reproducible and safe treatment concepts can be applied in daily clinical implantology. Beside an overview for the full range of abutments, each individual indication will be defined. Finally cases of participants will be discussed and reasons and solutions for critical situations will be analyzed.
